What we collect

Your email, your display name, and what you do on the site. That’s about it.

We collect the following personal data:

  • Email address — provided when you sign in via magic link or Google OAuth.
  • Display name — chosen by you for use in the community.
  • Profile information — name and profile image from Google, if you sign in with Google OAuth.
  • Content you create — threads, replies, votes, and saved festivals.
  • Usage data — page views and referrers collected via Vercel Analytics. This data contains no personal identifiers.

How we use it

To run the site and make it useful. We don’t do anything weird with your data.

Your data is used for:

  • Authentication and session management.
  • Sending magic link emails for sign-in.
  • Displaying your community posts with your chosen display name.
  • Personalizing features such as saved festivals and watchlists.
  • Aggregated, anonymized analytics to improve the site.

What we share

We don’t sell your data. Period. A few services help us run the site.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We use third-party services to help run the site (authentication, email delivery, hosting, and database). Each receives only the minimum data necessary to provide their service.

Cookies

One cookie for your login session. No tracking. No ads.

We use a single session cookie for authentication. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking of any kind. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free and privacy-focused.

Your rights

Your data, your call. Ask us to delete it and we will.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing privacy@festivism.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You may also delete your community content (threads and replies) directly through the site.

EU/EEA users have additional rights under GDPR, including data portability and the right to restrict processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.

Data retention

We keep your data while you have an account. Delete your account and it’s gone.

Account data is retained for the duration of your account. Community content (threads, replies) is retained unless you delete it or request account deletion.

Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Changes to this policy

If we change this, we’ll update the date at the top. No sneaky stuff.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of festivism after changes constitutes acceptance. We will not notify users via email for minor changes; material changes will be announced on the site.
